When can I enroll in a Medicare plan?

Most people first become eligible during their Initial Enrollment Period, which spans seven months — the three months before the month you turn 65, your birthday month, and the three months after. After that, the Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7 each year, when you can join, switch, or drop a plan. Coverage chosen during this window begins January 1.

Does it cost anything to work with an agent?

No. Medicare sets what agents can be paid, and the carrier pays it whether you enroll with us or on your own, so your premium is exactly the same either way.

Can I change my Medicare Advantage plan after I enroll?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs January 1 through March 31 each year. During this window you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare. You may also qualify for a Special Enrollment Period if you move, lose other coverage, or experience certain other life changes.

What happens if I miss the enrollment deadline?

You may have to wait until the next enrollment period, and in some cases you may owe a late enrollment penalty that stays with you. If you think you have missed a deadline, call us and we will check whether you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

Does where I live in Florida change which plans I can pick?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are approved county by county, so two neighbors in different Florida counties can see different plan lists, different premiums, and different provider networks. If you move within the state, that move may also open a Special Enrollment Period. We check availability for your specific county and ZIP code before recommending anything.
